• One-sentence problem statement for the gap being addressed.

In What Ways Might We create a better device for carrying everyday objects in a more functional, confortable and stylish way?

  • List of the 6-12 primary user needs.

The user needs...

1...an object that  is confortable.
2...an object that  is transpirable.
3...an object that  is waterproof.
4...an object that  avoids dust easily.
5...an object that  is permited in every space without disturbing others.
6...an object that  is allowed in public buildings with special restrictions as museums.
7...an object that  doesn´t count as a bag into airplanes.
8...an object that  is transformable to carry different objects with different sizes.
9...an object that  is able to transform easily for other needs, as a carpet, a place to seat, to sleep over or rest your head (as a pillow), picnic tablecloth...
10...an object that  is affordable.
11...an object that  makes carrying diary stuff togheter easy and safe.
12...an object that  has a form that helps to organize the different stuffs in independent and safe spaces.

  •  Decomposition of the design problem used to guide the exploration.
For this exercise, I focused on three latent user needs. I approached each need as a separate subproblem and developed a list of potential solutions for each:

A) In what ways can something be comfortable while being carried?

1- By being... light.
2- By being... transpirable.
3- By being... ergonomic.
4- By being... worn as clothing.
5- By being... adaptable (to the form of everybody).
6- By being... resizable (depending on the use or the environment for not to disturb others 7 in small spaces).

B) In what ways can something be transformable for different uses?

1- By being... elastic.
2- By being... foldable.
3- By being... unfoldable.
4- By being... inflatable.
5- By being... divaded in different elements.
6- By being... expandable (allowing adding new elements).
7- By being... rollable (rolled and unrolled).
8- By having... a zipper.
9- By having... a link system for different parts or other elements: Clip, velcro, magnetic.

C) In what ways can something be safer to carry things?

1- By being... organized by different and independent spaces.
2- By being... made by strong and durable material.
3- By being... waterproof.
4- By being... isolated in some parts for carrying objects that need spetial temperature conditions.
5- By being... resistant to external impacts.
6- By having... an open-close system hiden (for not apropiate persons).
7- By having... a restricted opening system (lock, fingerprint recognition system...).
